W4 - Software Piracy
Your paper should be 5 paragraphs.

1. What is software piracy?
2. What are some concerns of pirated music? How much money is lost?
3. What kind of solutions are there to stop illegal downloads and copying?
4. Do you think it is unethical to download music for free or make copies of CDs and computer programs? Have you or do you know of someone who has illegally downloaded music?
5. OPINION: What do you think the penalty should be for being caught downloading illegal?

W3 - Computer Virus

1. What is a computer virus? Has your computer had a virus?
2. Who develops computer virus?
3. What was the reason for its development and what is the cure?
4. Write other similar types of computer programs that are of concern to computer owners.
5. OPINION: Would you write a computer virus if you had the skill to do so? If yes, what type?

W2 - Which computer is better a PC, MAC or other?

Your paper should be 5 Paragraphs CITE your WORKS
1. Which computer do you own? Which are you forced to use (work school)?
2. Add some background on the computers (owners, history, design, law suits).
3. Respond to the this blog. Survey 20 people (other than classmates) and ask them(by phone?) which computer they prefer(why?) and include findings.
4. Research the business side. How much of the market does one company have over the others?
5. OPINION: Which has the better marketing program (commercials).

The first assignment is a Robot research paper.

1. Introduce Robot - Picture. What is your interest in this Robot?
2. Who developed it? Add some background on the person or organization. (MIT)
3. What was the reason for its development (reduce work load or Save lives)
4. Find other similar robots in development and compare strategies and applications.
5. OPINION: What do you think about its future and possible use in your life.

Welcome to Champ's Glog.

I want to get you started on this blog
in the event that there might be
a school closure due to the swine flu "flew" (H1N1).
or if you are sick for several days

So that we would not need to make up lost
days in the summer, I will post 5 assignments
due at the end of the semester.

If Smoky Hill is closed I will rearrange the class
activities for that day and use these 5 assignments.
The SWINE ASSIGNMENTS will be due upon our return.

If we do Not Have a Swine closure then they will be
due at the end of the semester.

Students will be given five writing prompts (W1-5) asking for a response in paragraph form. The first draft will be written by hand. If a student chooses to improve their score, a second draft must be sent by email to: jchampion@cherrycreekschools.org
Subject must be included or email will not be opened. Use the following format for subject.
block-assignment-lastName-firstName
EXAMPLE: 2r-w1-smith-amy

The writing sample will be scored as follows:
1 Mark - Paragraph is indented and the writing prompt is re-worded in the first sentence.
1 Mark - Each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with appropriate punctuation mark.
1 Mark - The paragraph includes at least 3 additional supporting sentences and one closing statement summarizing the prompt. 5 total sentences per paragraph.
1 Mark - At least one transitional word or phrase is used in each paragraph. Example: First, Secondly, Furthermore, Finally, On the other hand.
1 Mark - No misspellings have occurred in the paragraph.
